Thunder Was the Only Thing I Could Hear
A young girl yearns to meet her estranged father. A group of friends make a rap video that goes viral. Two teens fight zombies during the apocalypse. These are only some of the stories in Thunder Was the Only Thing I Could Hear, a collection of short stories, memoirs, and personal essays written by 8th graders in the MS 7 East Harlem Writers' Room. Throughout the school year, students worked on a variety of creative writing projects, and now, finally, the best of their work is in your hands.
